I had an amazing week at the ASEAN Law and Policy Academy organised by NUS-CIL. The Academy was well attended by policy makers, government officials and even educators from the region. What wonderful potential our region holds and the regionalisation efforts and the economic community that is being created brings much promise to our region as a whole. What I loved most about the 5 days was the trade law component and the investor state disputes course. I fell in love with international investment law 19 years ago in law school. I have been fortunate to be able to practice it in the firms I have been in Clifford Chance and Dentons. In the last 5 years, I have also been instructed on advisory work that concerns treaty interpretation and potential treaty claims. The intersection between investment treaty law and ESG is also fascinating. Look out for my academic piece on ISDS being published soon!
